Territory Explorer on The Ghan

Day 1
After boarding at Adelaide's Keswick Rail Terminal, your first day on The Ghan begins with a light lunch in the Restaurant Car as you travel north towards Spence Gulf & Port Augusta. (L, D)

Day 2
After arriving in Alice Springs you'll have time to look around town or enjoy a Whistle Stop Tour before reboarding the train and enjoying the desert scenery as you continue your journey North overnight. (B, L, D).

Day 3
In the morning you arrive in Katherine with around four hours to explore Katherine Gorge. Then it's time to hop back on board for your journey North through the lush Top End country side before arriving in Darwin for four nights accommodation at the Holiday Inn Esplanade Darwin (B, L).

Day 4
Morning free to explore our tropical city with the afternoon yours to enjoy our Darwin City Explorer tour, visiting Cullen Bay, East Point, Charles Darwin National Park - See how Darwin has grown over the last couple of years.

Day 5
We depart your Darwin accommodation around 0700 and travel to Litchfield National Park to visit the beautiful Florence Falls and Wangi Falls two of the many waterfalls cascading from the Tabletop Ranges. Perhaps a swim in the plunge pool at the base of the falls, or explore the surrounding monsoon rainforest. In the afternoon we leave the national park via the small township of Batchelor and return to Darwin for our nights accommodation.

Day 6
Approximately 220km east of Darwin lies one of Australia's best known treasures, Kakadu National Park. Leaving Darwin, we travel the Arnhem Highway across the Adelaide River and Marrakai Plains. A wide selection of native wildlife has made this region their home. Stop at Nourlangie Rock where your Driver/Guide will lead a walk to view ancient Aboriginal rock art. After lunch (available for purchase), we join our local guide for a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong. Search for saltwater crocodiles and the colourful range of birdlife this region is renowned for. Visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre and view the informative displays depicting the traditions of the Aboriginal people in Kakadu, before returning to Darwin.

Day 7
Airport transfer with your flight back to your capital city

Package departs on a Sunday & Wednesday, includes travel in Gold Kangaroo Service aboard The Ghan, three nights accommodation in Darwin and touring as stated with no meals (variety of meals available for selection), all flights including taxes, transfers to/from Darwin airport only.
